All About Nilsen Reactors
A Nilsen Reactor, like a Calcium reactor, helps dissolve calcium into a useable form before distributing it into the rest of your system. However, a Nilsen Reactor uses a separate chamber to mix kalkwasser (calcium lime water mix) into the water. No carbon dioxide is needed. Why buy MRC Nilsen Reactors?
Unlike other brands, you won't have to worry about premixing or clogs. With its innovative and efficient design, MRC Nilsen Reactors have the largest loading capacity on the market today. Imagine adding 4 cups of kalk with no stirring problems. Just dump it in and go! Like all MRC products, custom sizes are available on request. MRC Nilsens are simple and salt-water safe, making them simply the best and easiest Nilsen reactor out there. The MRC Nielsen Reactor Advantage: 1. Use-The chamber is filled with kalk powder. When mixed with water, the solution made is called kalkwasser (lime water). It has a ph of 12, so if often used in conjunction with a calcium reactor to counteract the ph depressing effects of a calcium reactor. The Nilsen works best when it is attached to your topoff system. As tank water evaporates, it is replaced with calcium rich kalkwasser. 2. Pump- Most if not all competing units employ the mini-jet pump to mix the kalkwasser. It's an okay pump, but is very failure prone and weak. The MRC Nilsen employs a blueline external pump. This is a powerhouse of a pump; practically bullet proof. It is very efficient, easy to service AND has replaceable parts. It will violently stir the mixture ensuring a thorough mix. 3. Magnetic stirrer-this is another option used by other companies to stir the kalk. The first MRC kalk stirrers used the magnetic stirrer. They have a huge tendancy to malfunction. Replacement parts are expensive and they can damage the reactor should something go wrong. We discontinued them years ago. The pumps provide a much better and thorough mix. 4. Timer- the MRC timer uses touchpad technology to adjust the timer. There are no buttons to stick or malfunction. The backlit LCD provides a clear view of your settings. The unit is very easy and simple to setup and control. It allows you to set the frequency and duration of the mix. So, you can set the reactor to mix every 6 hours for 30 seconds. It is adjustable to the second. 5. ¼" American Cast acrylic. MRC does not use foreign acrylic tube. Our supplier manufactures tube to our specifications. Our ¼" tube IS ¼", not .20 or thinner like other brands. It is also of uniform thickness and quality. All of our products are made in the USA with pride.
